The determination of coating thickness (consumption) of fire protection material is based on the calculation of the reduced thickness of metal. The reduced thickness of metal (PTM) is calculated during fire protection work in accordance with NPB 236-97 and represents the ratio of the cross-sectional area of the metal structure to the perimeter of the heated area.

Based on the reduced thickness of metal and the heated perimeter, the required thickness of the KMD-O-METAL fire protection layer is selected to achieve the specified fire resistance limit of the structure.
